Michael Morwood – Repertoire Coach and Musical Director

Trained at the Royal College of Music, Michael has been involved in London theatre for the last fifteen years. He was Director of Music at The Academy Of Live And Recorded Arts 1993-1997 and Deputy Head of Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre arts from 1997-2004.

West End credits include, Sunset Boulevard (Adelphi Theatre) 1995-1996, Martin Guerre (Prince Edward Theatre) 1997, Show Boat (Prince Edward Theatre) 1998, Annie (Victoria Palace) 1998, Blood Brothers (Phoenix Theatre) 1995, Blood Brothers (National Tour) 1995, Mamma Mia (Prince Edward Theatre) 1999-present, Witches of Eastwick (Theatre Royal and Prince of Wales Theatre) 2000-2001, The Full Monty (Prince of Wales Theatre) 2002-03.

Michael has musically directed pantomimes for E&B since 1991 and more recently for BHJ Productions at The Broadway Theatre in South London. He was a BBC Audition Adjudicator and Associate Chorus Master for the feature film of “The Little Prince” as well as one of the principal repetiteurs for “West Side Story” in the Bregenz Festspiele 2004 in Austria.

Now resident in South Wales, Michael is a regular guest tutor at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Gorseinon College of Further Education and Trinity College, Carmarthen and was part of the creative team opening the Welsh Millennium Centre, Cardiff.

More recently he was Musical Director for “Cinderella” at the New Theatre, Cardiff at Christmas and was Assistant Musical Director for the BBC’s “Voice Of Musical Theatre in April 2005.

Michael was Musical Supervisor of The Cardiff International Festival Of Musical Theatre opening Gala Concert in October 2006.
